Matt Newing Entrepreneur of the year 2020

Held on October 22, the awards recognised the efforts and work of ICT resellers and suppliers and their people in 2020. This included our very own founder Matt Newing, who was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year 2020.

As one of the industry’s most prestigious business accolades, the Entrepreneur of The Year title honours business leaders who accomplish success by combining ability with opportunity, and inspire others with great vision, demonstrating leadership and outstanding achievement.

This isn’t the first time Matt has won such an award, with the first back in 2014 as the EN North West Technology Entrepreneur of the Year. ‘I’m humbled, I’m grateful and I’m amazed to have received the Entrepreneur of the Year award. It’s recognition for what we are achieving out there’

This is a reward for both me and the team. I couldn’t have done this without our people, they have enabled me to win this award so they should get the credit.’

“I am particularly thrilled to have won this award at a special moment in the history of Elite Group as we celebrate our 20th anniversary. We began our journey in 2000 and in this period have grown our business from a start-up to one of the best communications and technology companies in the UK.

Technology is the enabler of digital transformation, in all sectors and the new playbook for enhancing customer engagement. Our path is now focused on creating more value for both existing and new clients, enabling and empowering them to make considered decisions regarding their business productivity, communication, security, and profitability – everything they need to flourish.” Matt Newing.

As a successful tech entrepreneurMatt set up his first company aged just 18, founding Elite Group in 2000, which has since grown to become one of the UK’s leading Unified Communications and IT service providers. Since then, he has backed, invested and mentored many early-stage start-ups including Churchill Security, e-sign, digi.me and DriverNet whilst also sitting on the board of various tech, security and property businesses.

With such an impressive bio it’s not hard to understand why he was chosen for this award but when asked the secret to his success he was very candid.

‘I’ve been asked in the past what’s the secret to your success? And I have to say it’s easy, just employ people better than you, which for me has not been hard to do. So, I’ve got a bloody good team around me who are very good at what they do

Elite Group congratulates Matt on his success and looks forward to many more awards in the future.
